This workshop is for families and caregivers of a loved one with a developmental disability. Also, people with developmental disabilities are welcome to participate in this workshop.

This forty-five minute session will provide you with basic mindfulness tools that you can access in the comfort of your home, which will allow you to feel relaxed, grounded and better able to  manage the challenges that may arise throughout your day. The goal of  these exercises is to re-connect with yourself and the environment around you.  The session  will touch on several types of mindfulness  practices founded in the “bottom-up” approach:

  • Body scanning
  • Orientation/anchoring to the space: interoception and felt sense
  • Anchoring: self-holding exercises
  • Guided meditation

Tools needed to participate in this workshop:

  • Yoga mat or a comfortable blanket/towel
  • Yoga block- a few of the postures will require a block or a firm pillow
